Health and safety policy

Our Commitment:

JP Cleaning is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for our team members, clients, and any other individuals affected by our operations. We will ensure our operations comply fully with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) and related regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Management: Responsible for providing appropriate training, resources, supervision, and maintaining this policy.
  • Staff: Responsible for following health & safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE, and promptly reporting any hazards, incidents, or injuries.

Hazard Management:

We will regularly identify, assess, and manage workplace hazards, including:

  • Chemical handling (cleaning products)
  • Slips, trips, and falls
  • Manual lifting and handling
  • Electrical equipment safety
  • Working alone or in isolation

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

All staff will be provided with and are required to use appropriate PPE, including gloves, masks, eye protection, and appropriate footwear as necessary.

Training:

All team members will receive training on:

  • Safe use of cleaning products and equipment
  • Manual handling and lifting techniques
  • Emergency response procedures
  • Hazard identification and reporting processes

Incident Reporting and Investigation:

All incidents and near-misses must be immediately reported to management. These will be recorded, investigated, and measures will be implemented to prevent recurrence.

Emergency Procedures:

  • Staff will be trained in emergency procedures, including evacuation plans and dealing with chemical spills.
  • First-aid kits will be provided and regularly checked.

Worker Participation:

We encourage open communication regarding health and safety. Staff are invited to actively participate in discussions, identify hazards, and suggest improvements.

Policy Review:

This policy will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if needed, to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with New Zealand legislation.
